Harvest Blessings Sign On an Old Window Screen

As you might have guessed from the name of my blog - I love pumpkins! I know it's not quite fall, but when homeschooling starts around my house, my crafting time gets squeezed quite a bit.  So, fall it is!  I tried a new technique this week - and I really like how it turned out.  Of course, I've got to share it with all of my bloggy friends!  Have you tried painting on an old window screen?

I love how you can still see through the painting!

This was so much fun to do!  After painting the pumpkin on the screen, I added additional paint and distressing to the frame.  Then to dress it up, I sewed this little fabric banner dipped in coffee. The "Harvest Blessings" were printed from my computor using transfer paper.  I couldn't resist adding the rusty star garland as a final rustic touch.  What do you think?

  17. O stumbled onto your site and instantly fell in love, I hope you don't mind if I follow along. I love, love, love pumpkins. I have a quarter acre garden where I plant nothing but pumpkins. Then in the fall, the most favorite time of the year for me, I have the local pre-school and kindergarten kids come over for a day and play in the patch and pick their pumpkins, after that I open it up to all the neighboring kids. I even re-decorated my kitchen with pumpkins.

  24. I wasn't really thinking about creating anything for the Thanksgiving holiday right now, but since you never find much in the stores I am thinking maybe I should! With that said, this is so inventive, never would have thought to use a window screen. I guess you could use the idea too, to make decorations for just about any holiday!
